Welcome to my Blog

I am pleased to welcome you to my blog and though I am a complete novice when it comes to blogging I am excited by the possibilities it presents and look forward to showing you my work, the work that some of my students produce and to answering any questions you may have about aspects of the work, techniques used or just discussing painting and drawing.

'A Splash Of Paint'

Murray Ince, As Seen On TV!

I went up to SAA headquarters in Newark on November 13th and filmed some demonstrations, tips, techniques and product recommendations for the TV series 'A Splash Of Paint' the first of which will feature in the 37th episode and will, I believe, be aired on January 12th, I will also feature in various episodes after that. Artisan water-mixable oils and Unison soft  pastels are the main mediums that I demonstrate and talk about, along with some other wonderful products that I use regularly. The thought of doing this was a daunting prospect and my initial apprehension will probably be clear for all to see, however it got easier (well less daunting at least) as the filming progressed. I'm sure you will excuse and forgive any strange pauses and comments but the gist of what I say and demonstrate is from the heart and will hopefully inspire you all to have a go and maybe come and see me in live action at one of my many workshops or painting holidays!

I went up to Newark last December and filmed a very short demonstration of painting middle distant trees in Artisan oils which has already featured in episode 17, I also demonstrated live at the 'It's All About Art' show in the Business Design Centre in London back in July and am a contributing artist in the forthcoming SAA book '101 Tips And Techniques' which has all been hard work but a great deal of fun, and of course the best bit is getting to meet the most important people, 'You'!

Painting Holiday At Le Manoir de Gurson

Le Manoir de Gurson is in the heart of the Bergerac region of France. Le Manoir estate has three lovely fishing lakes and is a haven for flora and fauna. We saw a great many birds including Hoopoes, Wheatears and Herons, and were also privileged to see Pyramidal and Bee orchids with others not quite as advanced (there are 12 different orchids on the estate). There were also turtles, small lizards and even Coypu to be seen. There are many superb views for the artists inspiration on the estate and many more within easy walking distance, the reward for this little extra effort being some wine tasting in great company among some idyllic settings at Cecile and Gregoirs organic vineyard and also at Le Chateau de Gurson in the shadow of the old chateau ruins. Le Manoir is surrounded by vineyards and the most wonderful scenes for the artist to paint.

Charmaine, Ray are fantastic hosts and couldn't make us more welcome, the food is excellent, the accommodation superb and we can play petanque, drink some wine and have a thoroughly good time. We will manage to do a spot of wine tasting locally (I may have already mentioned this) we will even manage to get some painting done! Why not join us for a very relaxed, informative and inspirational painting holiday in this glorious region of France? Contact me for more information.

Dates For 2014 ~ May 24th to 31st and May 31st to June 7th
