Welcome to my Blog

I am pleased to welcome you to my blog and though I am a complete novice when it comes to blogging I am excited by the possibilities it presents and look forward to showing you my work, the work that some of my students produce and to answering any questions you may have about aspects of the work, techniques used or just discussing painting and drawing.

'Sophie'

'Sophie' Artists soft pastel on Pastelmat paper

Sophie Rolf and Kissy Puppy

Many of you already know all about Sophie and Kissy Puppy but for those of you who don't; Sophie was a beautiful and very brave little girl who very recently passed away, she had an agressive brain tumor. Sophie and her parents started a charity here on the Isle of Wight called 'Kissy Puppy' originally set up to raise funds to enable Sophie to have some magical experiences. Kissy Puppy continues and is raising money for a childrens care department at The Earl Mountbatten Hospice in Newport, hitherto children and parents had to travel to Winchester for palliative care for children and with facilities for parents to stay. Kissy Puppy is doing wonderful work here on the Island for the future care of terminally ill children of which there are fifty on the Isle of Wight alone. This painting is my tribute to Sophie, an incredibly brave little girl. I was inspired to create this painting for Sophie's parents as my little tribute. If you would like to make a donation please check out the web site www.kissypuppy.co.uk on which there is much information and the contact details for your donations. Thank You!

4th Place In International Painting Competition

'A Stormy Sky At Le Manoir de Gurson'

This little oil painting was the product of a painting holiday that I lead in May earlier this year at the wonderful Le Manoir de Gurson near Bergerac in France I am absolutely thrilled to have been awarded 4th place out of 343 in the Light, Space and Time Online Gallery's International painting competition with entries from no less than 14 countries. I can't wait to return to Le Manoir in 2014 to demonstrate to some more guests and create some more sketches and studies for some more paintings. Come and join us for some great painting in this beautiful spot and relax, a truly wonderful painting holiday destination!
