Welcome to my Blog

I am pleased to welcome you to my blog and though I am a complete novice when it comes to blogging I am excited by the possibilities it presents and look forward to showing you my work, the work that some of my students produce and to answering any questions you may have about aspects of the work, techniques used or just discussing painting and drawing.

Sketch And Paint The Cotswolds

I am running some sketching and painting holidays in the wonderful Cotswolds during the quieter times of year. We will be based in the splendid Best Western Wroxton House Hotel for six nights. On the first day we will start with some tutor demonstrations and a walk with our sketchpads around the local village of Wroxton. During the following days we will go out on three separate sketching and painting excursions, firstly to the historic town of Stratford Upon Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare. The second days excursion will take us to the beautiful village of Lower Slaughter a truly idyllic Cotswold village of honey coloured stone cottages which sit beside the river Eye. The third trip will take us to the 'Little Venice of the Cotswolds' where the river Windrush flows between beautiful Cotswold stone houses and shops, most memorable though are the highly picturesque and paintable low bridges which span the river at regular intervals. This painting holiday due to the location features a great deal of beautiful buildings, however there is a huge range of other subject matter to inspire artists of all tastes. This holiday is particularly beginner friendly and will also suit the more accomplished artists as I will spend a considerable amount of time working with artists on a one to one basis.

The Luxurious Wroxton House Hotel sits at the edge of the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire just a few miles from Banbury and is the ideal base for a sketching and painting holiday. Those artists with a taste for the quintessentially English village will be in heaven on this holiday. Another little piece of heaven is the Wroxton House Hotel itself with it's sumptuous accommodation and 'Restaurant 1649' that offers a contemporary menu in the oak beamed surroundings with inglenook fireplace.

Sketching and Painting Cornwall

I am running two fantastic sketching and painting holidays at the wonderful 4 star Treglos Hotel at Constantine Bay near Padstow in the painters paradise that is Cornwall later in the year, the first starts on October 15th and the second starts on November the 19th both are for six nights (5 days of sketching and painting) and includes breakfast and 4 course evening meal, jacket or tie to be worn in the restaurant after 7.00 pm. The rooms are all en-suite and there is 24hour room service. The Treglos has its own 18 hole golf course for those non painting partners, indoor swimming pool, many excellent Spa facilities, a Snooker room and much more besides, so there is plenty for the non artist to do for the stay when not relaxing in the luxurious comfort of Treglos.

The cost for the October break is £650 per painting holiday guest, per room (based on two sharing) and for a non painting partner it will cost £400.

The cost of the November break is £600 per painting holiday guest, per room (based on two sharing) and for the non painting partner the cost will be £350.

I have a fantastic itinerary planned including a trip to St.Ives, the Cornish artists Mecca, a trip across the river Camel to Rock (a small town) to sketch and paint the view back across the river to Padstow and Constantine Bay and a trip into Newquay, the surfers paradise. Jim, Rose and I look forward to giving you a warm welcome and a holiday to remember, Don't leave it too long to book as I have capped the number of artists at 10 so that I can devote a considerable amount of time on a one to one basis and so the holiday really is suitable for the complete novice to the more accomplished artist and the holiday will run with as few as five!
